Degree and Certificate Programs

The University of Rhode Island offers a number of degree and certificate programs in the area of computer and digital forensics. Our different degree and certificate programs are designed to be taken by undergraduate students, graduate students, and working professionals.

The URI Digital Forensics Program offers the following degrees:

• An Undergraduate Minor in Digital Forensics. This minor can be obtained with any major and is designed to be taken by full time undergraduate students at The University of Rhode Island. For more information email df_minor@cs.uri.edu.
  
  
• A Professional Certificate in Digital Forensics. This is a formal certificate program that can be taken with a concentration in Network Acquisition, Forensic Analysis Tools, or both. Note that the Professional Certificate in Digital Forensics is designed to be done completely online so that professionals from anywhere may take all requirements for the degree online. • A Graduate Certificate in Digital Forensics. This is a formal graduate degree, but is focused on digital forensics and requires less course work than a full Master's Degree. Note that the Graduate Certificate in Digital Forensics is designed to be done completely online so that professionals from anywhere may take all requirements for the degree online. • A Master's Degree in Computer Science with Digital Forensics Track.. This is a full Computer Science Master's Degree that includes the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Digital Forensics. For more information email wolfe@cs.uri.edu.
  
  
• A PhD degree in Computer Science with Digital Forensics Research.. This is a Computer Science PhD degree that includes the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Digital Forensics and novel research in digital forensics. For more information email wolfe@cs.uri.edu.

Coming Soon

Starting in Spring 2010 URI will be offering a full course in EnCase Forensics Software. This course will be eligible to any student who is currently enrolled in one of the degree or certificate programs and has successfully completed CSC485 or CSC585. Enroll now to be one of the first students eligible. Students who complete the course will be eligible to take their EnCe certification test.
